Jaimie, like many others, thought that tanned skin meant healthy skin. What she didn’t realize was that her tan was masking years of sun damage. After starting a job at a med-spa, Jaimie quickly realized that the true way to healthy skin is through good skin care and avoiding the harmful effects of the sun. After using Obagi Nu-Derm® to help address years of sun damage and melasma, Jaimie has learned the importance of sunscreen and the power of Obagi. This is her transformational story.
Real Routines: Jaimie
Primary Skin Concern: Sun damage and Melasma
Obagi Products: Obagi Nu-Derm*, ELASTIderm® Eye Cream, Professional-C® Serum 20%
Skin Care Advice: Always use a SPF. I love the Obagi Sun Shield Matte SPF 50. It goes on very well under makeup - no greasy feel! I tell people it’s pointless to correct your skin if you are not going to protect it with SPF.
My Story:
Before I became a Patient Care Coordinator at a cosmetic surgery practice in Virginia, I really wasn’t aware of the damage the sun can do to your face. I rarely used sunscreen and my skin care routine consisted of a few over-the-counter products. Worst of all, I frequently went indoor tanning as I was on the Washington Nationals entertainment squad "The Nat Pack" and wanted to look tan; this also caused me to be in the sun a lot.
When I started working at a med-spa, I became educated on skin care and the harmful things I was doing to my skin. I stopped tanning and quickly noticed the damage I had caused from the sun and tanning bed. In addition, watching patients undergo laser treatments to minimize the appearance of their sun damage was a wakeup call... and those are the lucky patients as opposed to those who had melanoma.
I had sun spots, dull, aging skin and melasma on my forehead and cheek area. I looked years older than I really was! It is amazing to see the damage that remains once the tan goes away. I started using the Obagi Nu-Derm System and after my initial transformation stage I could see a HUGE difference in my skin. The sun spots and melasma were gone and I had healthier-looking, more even skin. See below for Important Safety Information about the Obagi Nu-Derm System.
I only regret not knowing about Obagi earlier and more importantly, not knowing about the dangers of tanning. I, like many other young people, was under the misconception that you have to have a tan to look like you have good skin.
Today, I use my Obagi Nu-Derm System with the Obagi Professional-C Serum and ELASTIderm Eye Cream daily**. I couldn’t imagine my skin without it! This skin care line really works. Regardless of my future profession, beauty industry or not, I learned a very valuable lesson about skin care and will never use anything but the Obagi Nu-Derm System.
Now, I am constantly told by patients that I have beautiful skin and they want their skin to look like mine. My family and friends have also noticed a big change in my skin and my mom says I look like a teenager again!
