Postpeel Care

After a treatment with Blue Peel RADIANCE, patients will need to know how to care for their skin to maximize and maintain results.

Patients should wear nonchemical sun protection (SPF 30 or higher) at all times after any chemical peel. Obagi recommends Rosaclear® Skin Balancing Sun Protection SPF 30 or Obagi Nu-Derm® Physical UV Block SPF 32.

Obagi has also developed an After-care Card especially for your patients to be provided to them prior to a peel.

 

Use With Other Obagi Products to Enhance Results

Results may be enhanced on the face and décolletage by combining treatments:

  • Optimize — lay the foundation for an even, more visible outcome with the Nu-Derm System 4 to 6 weeks prior to and following the patient's first peel1-3
  • Prepare and complement — may help benefit results of other Obagi systems, including the Nu-Derm System, Obagi-C® Rx System, and the ELASTIderm® Décolletage System4

Common Questions and Answers

If my patients use Nu-Derm® or Obagi-C® Rx, can they still have the peel?
Blue Peel RADIANCE is an easy-to-use and gentle booster to any Obagi skin care system. Simply ensure that your patients cease use of exfoliating or potentially irritating products 3 days prior to the peel. These include any hydroquinone-containing products, exfoliating agents (such as Exfoderm® and Exfoderm® Forte), and tretinoin. In addition, your patients should avoid excessive sun exposure, electrolysis, depilatory creams, waxing, and laser hair removal 5 to 7 days prior to the peel.
 
Can my patients use Blue Peel RADIANCE to address sun damage on the neck and décolletage?
If patients respond well to use of the peel on the face, the peel can be used on the neck and décolletage. Use of an additional vial of peeling product will be required to treat both areas.
 
What if a patient is using the ELASTIderm® Décolletage System?
Blue Peel RADIANCE is an easy-to-use and gentle booster to any Obagi skin care system, including the ELASTIderm Décolletage System. Simply ensure that they cease use of “active” products 3 days prior to the peel. These include any hydroquinone-containing products and tretinoin. It is possible to do a peel of the face, neck, and décolletage in 1 appointment.
 
However, it is recommended that patients undergo the application on their face before moving to the neck and décolletage. As always, make sure your patients are using sun protection on the neck and décolletage at all times, but particularly before and after receiving a peel.
 
What if a patient is using the CLENZIderm M.D.® Systems?
Blue Peel RADIANCE can be used on their skin if they are currently using CLENZIderm M.D. Systems. Simply ensure that they cease use of "active" products 3 days prior to the peel. These include benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid cleansers and toners. Use of all products can resume 24 to 48 hours after application of the peel solution.
