The Importance of Postpeel Care

After a treatment with Blue Peel RADIANCE, you will need to care for your skin to maximize and maintain results. The single most important thing to remember after any chemical peel is to wear nonchemical sun protection (SPF 30 or higher) at all times. Obagi recommends Rosaclear® Skin Balancing Sun Protection SPF 30 or Obagi Nu-Derm® Physical UV Block SPF 32. Be sure to ask your aesthetic physician about these products.

Common Questions and Answers

If I use Obagi Nu-Derm® or Obagi-C® Rx, can I still have the peel?
Blue Peel RADIANCE is an easy-to-use and gentle booster to any Obagi skin care system. Just make sure you cease use of exfoliating or potentially irritating products 3 days prior to the peel.  These products include any hydroquinone-containing products, exfoliating agents (such as Exfoderm® and Exfoderm Forte), and tretinoin. In addition, you should avoid excessive sun exposure, electrolysis, depilatory creams, waxing, and laser hair removal 5 to 7 days prior to the peel.

Can I use Blue Peel RADIANCE to help correct sun damage on my neck and décolletage?
If you respond well to use of the peel on your face, the peel can be used on your neck and décolletage. Use of an additional vial of peeling product will be required to treat both areas. Skin on the neck and décolletage may be more sensitive, and redness may last longer on these areas than on the face.

What if I am using the ELASTIderm® Décolletage System?
Blue Peel RADIANCE is an easy-to-use and gentle booster to any Obagi skin care system, including the ELASTIderm Décolletage System. Simply ensure that you cease use of “active” products 3 days prior to the peel. These include any hydroquinone-containing products and tretinoin. It is possible to have a peel of the face, neck, and décolletage in 1 appointment. However, it is recommended that you undergo the application on your face first, before moving to the neck and décolletage. As always, make sure you are using sun protection on the neck and décolletage at all times, but particularly before and after receiving a peel. Remember, only your aesthetic physician can advise you whether it’s appropriate for you to have a peel on skin areas other than your face.

What if I am using the CLENZIderm M.D.™ Systems?
Blue Peel RADIANCE can be used on your skin if you are currently using the CLENZIderm M.D. Systems. Simply ensure that you cease use of “active” products 3 days prior to the peel. These include benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid cleansers and toners. Use of all products can resume 24 to 48 hours after application of the peel solution.
