Skin Care on the Go: Travel Right
Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and like any other organ, it needs proper nutrition and care in order to stay healthy. But when you’re traveling, it can sometimes be difficult to maintain a skin care regimen that keeps your skin looking its best.
Here are tips that every Road Warrior should have in her back pocket to help maintain that “I just got a facial” feeling – even while on the go:
Don’t step out the door without first applying a good sunscreen.
Too much sun can cause damage to the skin, increase premature visible signs of aging, and even have more serious effects like Actinic Keratoses, which are skin growths that can become malignant if not treated, or melanoma, a type of skin cancer.1
It only takes a minute to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen in the morning, and it may just save you from future consequences of too much sun exposure.* Use your fingertips to apply, and always put it on last, after you’ve cleansed and moisturized.
Drink lots of water.
It doesn’t take a lot of effort to drink enough water throughout the day, and staying hydrated can help keep your skin looking its best. Dermatologists agree that your skin will look more dry and wrinkled when it is dehydrated 2.
Why not try carrying a bottle of water with you in your purse when you travel? It’s an easy reminder to keep yourself hydrated, and you’ll be sure to have some water handy no matter where your day takes you!
Pack ELASTIderm® Eye Serum.
Who doesn’t love a little caffeine while on the go? ELASTIderm Eye Serum is a roll-on product that contains caffeine, so you can keep it with you and perk up the look of the eye area anytime, anywhere! Watch this short video to learn more and see product application tips.
Always remove the grime of the day with a good cleanser right before you go to sleep.
The benefits of cleaning a day’s worth of dirt, pollution, and built-up oil cannot be understated. Before you go to sleep, take a few minutes to remove any makeup and wash your skin with a cleanser like the Obagi360™ Exfoliating Cleanser. You’ll give your pores a chance to relax while you sleep (without the unnecessary layers of “yesterday”).
A busy lifestyle doesn’t have to show on your skin; follow these tips to maintain healthy-looking, beautiful skin, even when you’re traveling. Keep in mind that these are general tips; consult your physician for tips tailored to your unique skin type.

* Using a broad spectrum sunscreen like Obagi® Sun Shield Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50 together with a comprehensive sun protection program, including wearing sun protective clothing and sunglasses and avoiding the sun between the hours of 10 am-2 pm, may help reduce the risk of premature skin aging.
