New Skin With Nu-Derm: Monica’s Story
There are things we become accustomed to in life, morning commutes, waiting in line, messy kids—but bad skin shouldn’t be one of them. For Monica, it was. She was so used to covering her post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and acne scars with makeup that she hardly thought twice about it. But after a nurse showed her just how dull and discolored her skin had become, she decided to tackle the issue head-on.
This is Monica’s story of how Obagi Nu-Derm® improved her skin’s appearance so much that she no longer feels the need to use concealer, restoring her confidence and the gorgeous glowing skin she always wanted.
Name: Monica Maclean
Location: United Kingdom
Primary Skin Concern: Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
Current Skin Care: Obagi Maintenance Routine
My skin is somewhat of a triple threat. I am of Afro-Caribbean descent, have combination skin and have hormonal issues which have resulted in flare ups of occasional acne throughout my life. Because of my skin tone, my acne often leaves dark marks [PIH] which can take months to fade. Knowing this, I always tried very hard to take excellent care of my skin and over the years I spent a small fortune on luxury skincare products which never delivered what they promised.
When I visited a skin clinic in February 2012, my main concern was to address my signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity. I have always used concealer to cover my PIH and acne scarring, but after removing it so that the nurse could take my photo, I saw just how dull, rough and uneven my skin really was. I wanted to make a change.
I had always known about Obagi, but assumed it was only for severe skin issues. However, after speaking with my skin care physician about not only my signs of aging, but also my hyperpigmentation, texture and tone issues, I was told I was a suitable candidate for the Obagi Nu-Derm System. After just 7 weeks, I was able see a definite improvement in my skin and diligently continued use for another 18 weeks. I was amazed. I finally felt confident enough to venture out without makeup—something I hadn’t done in years. Not only did my skin look younger, clearer and more even, it also felt softer, smoother and tighter. Even the forehead lines I’d had for years were less visible.
Currently, my doctor has me following a maintenance routine with Obagi and has incorporated Obagi Professional-C™ Serum into my routine along with a series of in-office Obagi Blue Peel RADIANCE® Peels.
I am so pleased to have discovered Obagi products. I finally have the skin I’ve always yearned for and would highly recommend Obagi to anyone who wants to see dramatic improvement in the look and feel of their skin.
