We all love the delicious festive treats that are a part of the holidays, but we may not love how they make our jeans a little harder to zip up. Ladies, you know what we’re talking about!
A few extra pounds may seem inevitable at this time of year, but don’t despair, because there are some very simple, and super fun, ways you can shed those extra pounds, no gym membership required!
Keep reading to find out a few ways you can get fit and healthy without a boring treadmill workout.
Get Creative In The Kitchen
The quickest way to shed those extra pounds is to watch what you eat. Exercising is pointless if you are filling your body with unhealthy calories every day in the form of processed carbs and sugar laden cookies.
We aren’t referring to dieting here, because that’s no fun, but rather to switching up a few staples in your pantry for healthier alternatives. Switch up processed sugar for coconut sugar, and purchase whole grains in the form of brown rice and quinoa, rather than white bread and white rice. A good rule of thumb is to ditch any refined white foods in your cupboard or fridge. White flour, rice, bread, pasta, etc. These foods may taste good, but they do absolutely nothing for you in terms of nutritional content, except leave you feeling sluggish and bloated.
Take advantage of the frosty season, gather up your nearest and dearest, and enjoy a day or evening on the skating rink.
Ice-skating is so much fun it won’t even feel as if you are working out, but while you glide along the ice you are treating your body to a complete cardiovascular workout. This type of exercise mainly targets your leg muscles, but your abs stay engaged too as you constantly work on keeping your balance. You get your blood pumping, calories burning, and feel-good endorphins released for a “workout” that will leave you feeling happy and rejuvenated.
Try A Dance Workout
Ever tried a YouTube workout, but quickly given up after what feels like the thousandth squat? We know we have.
Instead of trying a traditional (and boring) strength workout, why not try something a little different like a dance workout? You know when you are home alone, you turn the music up and get your boogie on? Well, this is the same thing. The difference is that you have an instructor to guide you to really get the most out of your workout.
So put on some comfy clothes, tie your hair back, and get ready to get your groove on!
Join A Class or Team
Nothing will make you give up quicker than trying an activity or exercise program you don’t enjoy. That’s why we recommend finding a physical activity you truly enjoy and then signing up to be part of a class or team. This can be soccer, basketball, tennis, yoga, you name it, but just make sure it’s something you enjoy.
When you find an activity you love, and you feel part of a team, you will end up having such a good time, you won’t even notice those extra pounds melting off ‘til the next time you try on your skinny jeans.
Follow these fun tips and you’ll be feeling fit in no time! Remember, it’s not just about fitting into those favorite jeans, but rather about taking charge of your health and feeling good within yourself.
