Clinical grading was performed on mild to moderate photodamaged skin using a 10 cm scale.

Results were determined based on clinical grading, digital photography, ultrasound measurements and silicone replicas. Silicone replicas were taken on one crow’s foot area and on one side of the upper lip. Patients returned to the office for examination at 6-week intervals.

Treatment Group randomization was balanced by the following parameters:
  • Age categories (3): 40–48, 49–56, 57–65
  • Fitzpatrick categories (3): I, II + III, IV
  • Skin type categories (5): normal, normal to dry, normal to oily, dry, oily
° The most common side effects occur locally and subside with continued treatment. These may include erythema, scaling, burning and stinging.
