Headquartered in Long Beach, California, Obagi Medical Products, Inc.
is a pharmaceutical company that develops,
manufactures, markets and sells proprietary prescription skin
care Systems. The Systems are designed to prevent and improve
the most common and visible skin disorders in adult skin. The
Obagi Nu-Derm System products were created in 1988 by Dr. Zein E.
Obagi and other leading experts. Dr. Obagi and his partners
began manufacturing and selling the products, and nine years
later, the company's name was changed to Obagi Medical Products,
Inc. with Dr. Obagi serving as the company's Chief Medical Officer
and a member of the Board of Directors up until 2006.
The company has continued to grow each year, expanding the
product line, sales force and corporate office. The Company's
International presence is in over 35 countries across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Over the years, Obagi Medical Products has developed
prescription-strength skin health systems focused on preventing
and/or improving skin conditions including photodamage,
hyperpigmentation (chloasma, melasma, and freckles), acne, vulgaris
and rosacea. The Obagi Nu-Derm System consists of topical
products, which when used as a system, result in substantial
improvement to these skin related conditions. The Obagi Nu-Derm
System is the number one brand of physician dispensed products in
the United States. In April 2004, the Company continued its legacy as a
leader in skin health systems, by launching a successful new
system of products, the Obagi-C Rx System. As the first and only
prescription strength Vitamin C and hydroquinone System, it has
been a huge success with both patients and physicians.
Because the Obagi System products contain prescription strength
formulations, the systems are only available through physicians,
which include over 3,500 in the United States, primarily dermatologists,
plastic surgeons, medical spas and other skin care specialists.
